For over thirty years, Palacký University Olomouc (UP) has been organizing various summer schools on both the department and faculty level. In the recent years, Division for International Cooperation has been also offering top-class university summer and winter programs that balance a fun international experience with an excellent academic program to students from all over the world.

Basic information

Contested Heart of Europe: Central Europe’s Turbulent Past (14 July – 13 August)

Price: 1200 EUR
1) Middle Ages: Christianisation between the East and the West, medieval religious institutions, Hussite movement and its impact
2) Early modern times: The reformation and religious wars, Baroque culture, witch-hunts
3) Nineteenth and twentieth centuries: nations and empires, Napoleonic wars, nationalism, WW1 and its aftermath
4) WW2, Shoah, Cold War
Note: Included are also field trips to Austerlitz, Bouzov Castle, Vítkovice and more.

 

Creative Therapies (14 July – 3 August)

Price: 1000 EUR
The class is focused on creative therapies related the education. The focus will be on different way of communication through art expresses, group dynamic and self-experience of course participants.
The Summer School of Russian Language and Culture (14 July – 13 August)
 

The Summer School of Russian Language and Culture in Olomouc will offer students interested in Russian and the Eastern European area intensive Russian courses at three levels:

Price: 1200 EUR
1) Beginners (A0/A1) with English/German as the teaching language
2) Intermediate (A2/B1) with Russian as the teaching language
3) Advanced (B2/C1) with Russian as the teaching language.

 

Thinking and Teaching in a Changing World (14 July – 13 August)

Price: 1200 EUR
The Institute of Foreign Languages at the Faculty of Education is offering a multidimensional selection of courses covering a variety of topics under the umbrella title “Thinking and Teaching in a Changing World.” These include:
1) The Significance of Literature in Our Lives
2) European and Czech Culture
3) Self-Expression and Communication
4) Reflections on the Future

 

Accommodation
The accommodation is arranged at various dormitories of Palacký University Olomouc. The participants can choose between a single and a double room. Trips
Over the course of our summer schools, participants can learn more about the Czech Republic as well as the Central Europe on several trips included in the price of the summer schools. The destinations include: Prague, Vienna, Auschwitz, Krakow, Znojmo, and Mikulov. Please note that destinations may vary depending on the summer school.
