Erasmus+ non-Europe (ICM)
International Credit Mobility (ICM) supports the mobility of individual participants enrolled or employed at a higher education institution (HEI), namely:
- Student mobility for studies or traineeship for short cycle, first cycle (Bachelor or equivalent) or second cycle (Master or equivalent) students, as well as third cycle doctoral candidates. The minimum duration of the study mobility period is 3 months or 1 academic term or trimester, the minimum duration of the traineeship mobility period is 2 months. The total duration of the mobility period shall not exceed 12 months, including any zero-grant period, which shall only be used exceptionally.
- Staff mobility for teaching for academic staff to teach at a partner institution abroad. The length of the mobility period must be between 5 days and 2 months.
- Staff mobility for training for teaching and non-teaching staff in the form of training events abroad (excluding conferences) and job shadowing/observation periods/training at a partner HEI. The length of the mobility period must be between 5 days and 2 months.
Student and staff mobility can take place in any subject area or academic discipline. Staff teaching and training activities can be combined.

Information for traineeship applicants
- You shall apply as a response to a traineeship offer issued by the host organisation to your home university who carries out the preselection of participants in the mobility action. The preselection of students must be fair, transparent, coherent and documented and shall be made available to all parties involved in the preselection process.
- After your home university has submitted nominations/profiles of preselected students via e-mail, the host organisation carries out the final selection and issues the Letter of Admission to the selected applicant.
Information for accepted students/financial support applicants
- If the host organisation has accepted you, you shall receive an e-mail from the UP Traineeship Abroad Coordinator containing all necessary information as for further steps to take before the traineeship start.
- The UP Traineeship Abroad Coordinator shall also provide you with the Confirmation of Acceptance and other documents necessary to obtain visa. You will receive them as scanned attachments via e-mail. Hard copies are sent by post.
- Then, you shall fill in the online registration in the UP information system STAG (https://stag.upol.cz/portal/studium/uchazec/ects-prijezdy.html). Please klick on the link, enter your e-mail address and the system will send you per e-mail a unique link for the registration form. Then please fill in the form. After completing the registration, we will be able to enrol you in the traineeship etc.
- In order to receive financial support to cover subsistence and travel expenses related to your traineeship, you shall submit the following documents:
- Financial Support Application (to be filled in electronically in English);
- annexes that are an integral part of the application:
- Letter pf Admission issued by the authorized representative of the host organisation (to be filled in electronically in English);
- Recommendation Letter issued by a traineeship supervisor, i.e. academician at the relevant department/institute who is responsible for approval of negotiated traineeship and its subsequent recognition (to be filled in electronically in English). For these purposes, submit the Financial Support Application and Letter of Admission to the supervisor for consultation so that the recommendation is tailored to you and your traineeship. For doctoral student traineeships, the recommendation letter is issued by trainer;
- Language Proficiency Confirmation documenting the level of proficiency in the language/s of traineeship – a certificate or examination of the given language/s in the transcript of records or examination by the language training centre of the relevant faculty.
Financial Support Applications and the above annexes are submitted electronically within due deadlines to the UP Traineeship Abroad Coordinator.
- Contractual documents, i.e. the Grant Agreement and the Learning Agreement for Traineeship are issued by the UP Traineeship Abroad Coordinator upon approving your Financial Support Application.
Insurance
- Travel health insurance must cover the costs of comprehensive health care for the entire stay in the Czech Republic.
- Students need to arrange comprehensive health insurance which must include:
- the minimum insurance cover EUR 400,000 without co-payment.
- must include preventive and follow-up (= regular medical supervision during certain disease) treatment and care related to pregnancy and childbirth.
- We highly recommend purchasing Comprehensive Health Insurance PLUS/EXCLUSIVE from the Czech insurance company VZP.
- Health insurance must be bought on-line before picking up the student visa at the Embassy of the Czech Republic.
- The student is required to obtain the insurance with his/her own means.
Visa
- Check the current conditions on the website of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs and contact the nearest Czech embassy for updated and complete information.
- You must apply for (and obtain) a visa before your departure for the Czech Republic. The processing time is up to 60 days (but it might take longer) and therefore it is recommended to apply for your short-term visa (within 90 days), long-term visa (up to 90days) or long-term residence permit as soon as you receive the confirmation of acceptance and proof of accommodation.

Financial support
- The financial support is a flat rate grant calculated at a monthly rate.
- Grants are a contribution towards the costs of the planned Erasmus+ mobility period.
- The financial support will be paid upon signature of the Grant Agreement.
- The financial support is a single payment transferred to the bank account of the student (to CZK account).
- Financial support cannot be used to pay for costs already reimbursed from other events / programmes of the EU. Students cannot be the recipient of Erasmus Mundus scholarships (Joint Master Degree) and Erasmus+.
- Financial support consists of 2 amounts.
- Subsistence costs are 800 EUR per month. For the purpose of calculating the financial support for one month is considered 30 days. If not observed, the duration of the traineeship period in full months, the financial support for the last month is calculated by the number of days one day = 1/30 monthly rates.
- Travel costs (depends on the distance between UP and partner university, see distance calculator).
